The WMT publication is an example of modern CMS/blog site design, using transparent effects with a layer of sophisticated and professional imagery. Wordpress themes that have a strong CSS (Custom Style Sheet) structure behind them, plus have all the widget locations you need already coded in, are worth investing in. We can easily change the site’s design along with our business and at any time also duplicate the site for new or related purpose with a completely different look and feel to suit it’s reuse.
While transparency is being used routinely in OS (ie Win7 & Mac OS) design, it is only slowly making it’s way into the web site, portal, and intranet application space. The IE6 browser which for some unknown reason is still in fairly widespread use causes problems with transparency (among other things), so it is important to only build into your design what the major ” in use” browsers can handle and display as intended.
A well coded CSS structure behind any virtual property allows for easy tweaking and fast design “makeover” changes to the site’s theme (the design template). So if and when our audience(s) change, we can easily change the look and feel of the site to adapt to our changing market(s).
So we have the CMS engine WordPress doing all the content management and admin duty behind our base theme design, which has it’s well coded CSS structure from which to make easy design changes. As we make changes and the site evolves, we test how it looks and acts in all the major browsers (IE, Firefox, Chrome, & Safari for starters), because we want our users to have the ability to come in through the browser they normally use or choose.
